On November 30, 2009 the Lord called one of his angels home to be at his side, Doreen Lowita Kitson. Also known as Grandma, Doreen was born on April 18, 1938 in Jamaica, West Indies to the late Roy and Daisy Martin. She was the second born of four children (two boys and two girls).
Doreen married Felix Kitson on November 29, 1958. Out of this union was born four daughters and two sons: Claudette, Carol, Christine, Paul, Felix and Andrea. In 1970, the family migrated from Jamaica, West Indies. They settled in Brooklyn, New York.
Doreen worked for Hebrew Home for The Aged for over 25 years as a nurse’s aide before she retired.
Doreen was a strong-willed, giving, and very caring person who loved being surrounded by her family, especially her husband, children and grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband, Felix; her sister, Merline Newman; her children and their spouses, Claudette, Carol, Calvin, Christine, Patrick, Paul, Tammy, Felix, Aretha, Andrea and Carol Harper; Grandchildren, Sherry, Tiffany, Calvin, Jr., Quneil, Lakeiha (“Tynisha”), Monique, Jada, Alexis, Shanae, Joel, Sekina, Ashia, Xavyer, KaSean, Raven, Javon, Porshe, Candace; Great Grandchildren, Janina, Janelle, Janesha, Zarilyn, Kyla, Jayden and Jaheim; and, her nieces and nephews, Vivienne, Tony, Teddy; a whole host of friends.
Doreen truly gave love, was loved, and will be missed by everyone that had the pleasure to touch her soul.
