OBITUARY

On Friday May 29, 2009 Marilyn Williams-Shirer entered into eternal rest at 5:10am at Kent General Hospital in Delaware.  Marilyn was born on January 31, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Nathaniel and Evelyn Williams.  She was the forth child out of eleven children.  Marilyn was affectionately known as “Buck” by her family and friends from Far Rockaway, Queens.  Marilyn attended New York City public schools.  She had four wonderful children: Sonia West, Felicia Jones, Leon Williams and Kyesha Patterson.  Marilyn accepted the Lord as her Savior at a young age and attended St. John Church in Far Rockaway, Queens.  She believed in the Lord until her departure from this life.

During her lifetime, Marilyn had multiple careers and in her late years she worked as a Home Health Aide for School settlement until her health failed her.  But even this did not keep her down, she became an avid traveler and loved spending time living through her beloved children, grandchild, and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed taking cruises and traveling with her daughters Sonia and Felicia.  She enjoyed exploring different restaurants with her son Leon (aka Mann), Red Lobsters was a favorite.  She was a sounding board and confidant to her youngest child Kyesha.  She was a single mother who enjoyed a full life with children.

In 1990 she met the love of her life, William Shirer.  As they grew close together, William and Marilyn were married September 6, 1992.  their bond was inseparable.  They both had a passion for relaxation in Atlantic City, their home away from home.  “Comp them a room”, and they both were there!  They were the platinum card crew! The night life was their life.  William has lost not just a wife, but his “partner in life”.

She is survived by her beloved husband William Shirer, Sonia West (her eldest daughter), Felicia Jones her son Leon Williams, and Kyesha Patterson (her youngest child).  Also her daughter Ciritia Moffett and son Darrell Moffett.  She has 17 grandchildren: Shanquia, Raishana, Christina, Raymond Jr., Shawana, Dashawn, Shanette, Leasha, Candice, James, Shyheme, Gabby, Davon, Tyrell, Jadan, Justin and Kaseem.  Two sons-in-law Douglas Jones and Patrick Patterson, one daughter-in-law Andrea, one Goddaughter Queen-Marlene (aka Lu Lu).

She left behind five siblings Dolores Elmore (her eldest sister) and one of her greatest supporters, Joseph (BJ) Williams, Linda Williams, Geraldine Hollis, and Master Hollis.  She is joining five siblings Keithie Willaims, Leon Williams, Linwood Williams, Roy Williams and Theresa Greene.  She leaves two aunts Anna Mae Scott and Janie Raniezie.  One mother-in-law, Catherine Shirer, sisters-in-law Denise, Dene, Diana, Ktoya, Mona and Jeanette.  Brothers-in-law Tate, Robbie, Martin, Nathaniel, Denis, James (Pop), Ira and Bruce.  Nine nephews, nineteen nieces and countless of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Six special friends like sisters and son Roz, Carol, Doris, Cheryl, Jackie McDuffin and Raymond Sr.
