Obituary

Ollis Charles Neal, was born in Buena Vista, Georgia on January 25, 1933 to the late Felix and Lula Neal. The family later moved to New York where he was raised in the Williamburg section of Brooklyn. After graduating from Eastern District High School, Ollis attended New York City Technical College where he studied retail. Two years later, he entered the US Army serving in the Infantry Unit during the Korean War.

After leaving the Army, a co-worker of his shared with him a photo of a young aspiring nurse. Ollis began a 10-year over-seas courtship with Muriel B. Jarvis of Antigua, West Indies . Through letters, phone calls, and two short visits, Ollis and Muriel fell in love with one another and on April 29, 1969, they were united in marriage in Toronto, Canada. Throughout their 40 year marriage, they were blessed with four boys and priceless memories.

In 1966, he began working for the US Postal Service retiring after 24 years of service. During his time at the Post Office, Ollis took interest in another profession – Real Estate. After becoming a Licensed Real Estate Broker, he opened up a Neal Realty Company in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn , selling, renting and managing residential and commercial properties.

Ollis spent his life as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and as an inspiration to all he came in contact with. Ollis was preceded in death by his father (Felix Neal), his brother (also named Ollis Neal) ,mother (Lula Baker Neal), and two nieces Myrtis Neal Blinker and Ethel Neal. Mourning his loss yet rejoicing in heaven’s gain are his wife, his four sons and their spouses, Kenneth (Dateria), David (Franshea), Lester (Deborah), Terrance, eight grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
