OBITUARY

 

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Ruth Elnor Allen (nee Humphrey). Born in Leslie, West Virginia to the late William and Margaret Humphrey, she surpassed all expectations and left us with a legacy that will be hard to follow.

After graduating from Bolling High School she hopped on a bus to New York.  There she met her husband Richard Allen. They were married and would spend the next fifty one years together. That union would produce two children, the late Richard M. Allen Jr., and Adrian Allen. She worked at Kings County Hospital for several years and later worked at One Police Plaza from which she retired with honors.

She leaves to mourn her husband Richard, one daughter Adrian, one granddaughter Alicia, one great granddaughter Kailyn, one grandson-in-law Kevin and his sons Marquise and Lil Kevin, three of six sisters Mildred, Maxine and Carol. Preceding her was Dorothy, Vera and Margaret.  She had two brothers William and the late Robert Humphrey. She also leaves a host of nephews, great nieces and many~many friends. She was loved and will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
